Workshop
There will generally be a hive of activity going on at the foot of the Friends First garden as there is the location of our workshop and music studio.
Shortly after our project first opened the staff team and a group of enthusiastic resident set about turning an old garage into an equipped and functioning workshop. Kitted out with tools, work benches, machinery and the obligatory kettle the workshop offers our residents the opportunity to put their hand to something creative, learn new skills and produce something useful as part of the process.
In the winter of 2007, shortly after the laws about smoking in public places were introduced, staff and residents came together to build an external smoking shed thanks in no small part to the facilities the workshop provides.
A member of the Friends First staff team has expertise in construction and carpentry and runs regular lifeskills and training workshops.
