Leadership

CCK is served by a team of seven elders:

Joel Virgo

Joel Virgo

Joel, who grew up in Brighton, returned with his wife Kate to his home town, joining the leadership team at CCK, and being appointed as an elder in October 2006. They have four children. Joel leads the eldership team at CCK. He is also responsible for the ministry team which leads the annual Newday event for young people.

 

Terry Virgo

Terry VirgoTerry is based in Brighton, UK and is the founder of Newfrontiers, a worldwide family of churches to which Church of Christ the King belongs.


Terry and the Newfrontiers team currently serve nearly 500 churches in over 25 nations encouraging church leaders and their congregations to build on biblical principles and be effective disciples of Christ. A well-known Bible teacher, Terry speaks at conferences around the world.


He has written several books including No Well-Worn Paths (his biography and the story of Newfrontiers), Does the Future Have A Church? and God’s Lavish Grace. The most recently- published book he has written is The Tide is Turning, an analysis of Joseph, Gideon and Nehemiah, which interprets the times in which we live and shows that the tide is turning against secularism and we are increasingly seeing the fulfillment of God's great plan to glorify His Son in the earth.


He is married to Wendy, who is also a popular speaker, travelling widely both in the UK and internationally. She has written many books including Leading Ladies, Mary: Mother of Jesus, and Sarah: Mother of a Nation.

Steve Walford

Steve WalfordSteve Walford oversees CCK’s children’s work, Kidz Klub, the Marriage Course, Family Time parenting course, marriage preparation, prison ministry and some of the membership equipping events.


Additionally he is the vice-chair of the Evangelical Alliance steering group in Brighton and Hove which aims to facilitate the effective working together of churches in the local area.


Steve has been at CCK since 1980 when he laid down his previous job as a manager in a London company in order to work full time for the church. He is married to Rosie and they have four children. Contact annie.waller@cck.org.uk

Dave Fellingham

Dave F

 

Dave graduated from Sussex University in 1969 and worked as Musical Director at Longhill High School.

 

In 1979 he joined Terry Virgo in the early days of the church, and has served as an elder ever since. He is currently overseeing evangelistic events as well as having involvement in many aspects of the worship life of the church. Dave is internationally recognised as a songwriter, worship leader and conference speaker, and has authored two books Worship Restored and To the Praise of His Glory.


He is married to Rosie who assists in counselling and hospitality, and they have two sons - Luke and Nathan, who are part of Christian band Phatfish. Dave and Rosie have four grandchildren. Contact claire.coggan@cck.org.uk

Neville Jones

Neville JonesNeville was appointed as Church Administrator in January 2002, and became an elder at the start of 2008.


He is married to Sue and they have two daughters. He oversees the planning, finance and administration of the church and its activities, including the building project.


He also assists in oversight of the Alpha course and has personnel responsibility for the church staff. Contact Annie.Waller@cck.org.uk

Steve Horne

Steve Horne Steve joined Church of Christ the King (CCK) in 1996 as a youth worker. He lives with his wife Jane and their four children in Moulscombe, in East Brighton.


Steve and Jane have nursing backgrounds and now oversee the youth work, called Youth Alive, and young adults. Steve also has responsibility for students and a number of house groups in the Hove area.


Jane is involved in the counselling work of the church. They have a passion for reaching out to their local community. They both enjoy walking and badminton, and Steve still has a go at triathlons - and he ran the London Marathon in 2008 in a time of 4 hours 8 minutes! Contact annie.waller@cck.org.uk

Alan Preston

Alan PAlan, a former physics teacher, has been working full time at CCK since 1987. His current responsibilities cover all aspects of welcoming and integrating newcomers into church and include: welcome meals, Alpha and Beta courses, baptisms, Joining the Church Family courses and international students’ ministry.
 
He is married to Marian and their diverse interests range from bird watching to competitive tennis. They have three grown-up children. Contact claire.coggan@cck.org.uk
