Sacred Mums – 1 Corinthians 7:14
We often neglect the subject of motherhood, but it is a relevant topic to all of us – at the very least, we were all born of a mother. It is also an incredibly important and significant role within the church, and should be viewed as such. It is means whereby Jesus can be taken into the home and the family, even if the mum is the only Christian in that place (which is mainly who the apostle Paul is addressing in this verse). Mums can bring godly influence.
How can a loving God allow natural disasters like Haiti to happen?
In recent weeks we have seen the utter devastation that has come about in Haiti with nearly 230,000 people having been estimated to have died as a result of an earthquake. When you consider the million people who have been left homeless and destitute as well, it causes deep emotion and a very real sense [...]
Men and Women of Honour: Tony and Claire Coggan
Tony and Claire Coggan: A Family that loves Jesus.. Radically Tony: I became a Christian in 1972. Before I allowed God to take control of my life, I would have said that I was a conservative, God fearing, hardworking person but who could always do better! I thought that with more effort and more self-discipline I would [...]

International Network

Church of Christ the King (CCK), Brighton is a member of Newfrontiers which is an international movement of over 500 churches with a vision to change the expression of Christianity.

Celebration at a Newfrontiers International Conference

People have been sent out from Brighton to help plant new churches in more than 20 countries including India, Japan, Ghana, the USA, Cyprus, Australia, South Africa and Botswana. Our ongoing involvement in their lives, both as people and churches, is of great importance to us as we strive to be an authentic New Testament church.

Caroline Bailey shares her experiences in Ghana

CarolineBailey_right1Part of the advantage in being joined with other churches internationally is that we can serve them not just with financial gifts, but also by visiting them for mutual encouragement. 'Life Change Teams' are a chance to visit an international location to explore the possibility that God may be calling you to give an extended period in serving God there, or to experience church-planting in a new environment.

Recently, CCK accounts clerk Caroline Bailey took a trip to Ghana.
'CCK is not just a local church; we are part of a family of churches across the globe,' she writes.

''It may sound presumptuous to say 'family' when we'll never meet most of the people who are part of Newfrontiers churches across the globe, but this term became reality when my husband & I went on a Life Change Team to Ghana.

'We spent three weeks at the City of God Church in Ghana’s capital city, Accra. We were welcomed and made to feel part of the church immediately. The language, music and temperature may have been very different, but the freedom to worship, hear God speak and receive the word of God are some of the characteristics we love so much about CCK – and we found these things at City of God Church too.

'The friendships that developed crossed the cultural boundaries with surprising ease, no doubt greatly helped by the seminars we took part in together with local church members.'

Life Change Teams are short-term overseas mission trips that church members can go on as part of a ministry team. More information about these and similar opportunities are here.

Newday

NewdayNewday is a six-day camping event for young people where we get to encounter Jesus together. We spend time worshipping God, listening to teaching from the Bible and praying together in our main meetings, and in our smaller seminars we can choose from a wide range of topics and issues and learn how to apply God’s word to the way we live.
