Worship

"I have a passionate commitment to seeing church life filled with God’s power and glory, and functioning as God intended from the beginning – a church which is experiencing his presence and is communicating with a dying world.”

 – Dave Fellingham, from his book To the Praise of His Glory

We place the highest value on worship, believing that it is the main reason for our existence. The shorter Westminster catechism expresses it in the statement The chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy him forever. Worship is at the heart of everything we do and is our motivation for every area of church life.

So worship is not simply an element of our Sunday meetings but is about our relationship with God as we live in obedience to him flowing out of hearts that love him.

Worship at CCK

In Spirit and in truth

When we come together as a people in our meetings, we express our desire to be worshippers who worship in Spirit and in truth. We desire the words we sing to be full of truth; packed with content which declares and honours God's character, what he has done for us and how our hearts delight to respond – we celebrate the love of God in a charismatic style, with modern songs and heartfelt worship

Many of our songs are home-grown with such songwriters as: Dave Fellingham, Stuart Townend, Paul Oakley, Kate Simmonds, Nathan & Lou Fellingham and Alan Rose. Their song writing reflects the spiritual ethos and life of the church complementing the strongly Bible-based preaching.

Whether it is joyful, uninhibited praise or soft heartfelt devotion, our desire is to be theological and biblical but with a contemporary style to which everyone can relate. It is also our desire to be completely open to the Holy Spirit with all his gifts.

The priesthood of all believers is one of our core values, so although we have great worship leaders who are able to lead the large congregation, we do not want to be so platform dominated that the congregation are passive.

So, our celebrations are not only dynamic, with great worship songs accompanied by our excellent musicians, but punctuated with extemporary prayer, life-changing prophetic words, tongues and interpretation full of revelation and other spiritual gifts.
